Local Law 196 is a 2017 NYC law requiring construction and demolition workers at jobsites with a Site Safety Plan to complete 40 hours of training and earn an SST Worker card. Supervisors need 62 hours for an SST Supervisor card. It applies to any site with a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager. Fully enforced since March 1, 2021.

Does OSHA 10 count toward my SST card?

Yes. OSHA 10-Hour Construction counts as the first 10 of the 40 required hours. New entrants must complete OSHA 10 before starting work and have 6 months to complete the remaining 30 hours. Your OSHA 10 must be less than 5 years old.

Does OSHA 30 count toward my SST card?

Yes. OSHA 30 counts as 30 of the 40 required hours. The NYC DOB considers OSHA 30 equivalent to a Limited SST card. You only need 10 additional hours of DOB courses for your full SST Worker card. Our 40-Hr Complete Worker package ($320) includes OSHA 30 + all DOB courses + your SST card.

What does actively proctored mean?

Actively proctored means the course verifies your identity, monitors that you are present throughout training, and ensures you complete each module yourself.
