Common Questions

Learning Hub — FAQ

Quick answers to the most common OSHA training questions — before you enroll.

Which OSHA training do I need — 10 or 30, Construction or General Industry?

If you work on construction sites, you need a Construction course. If you work in warehousing, manufacturing, healthcare, or facilities, you need a General Industry course. Workers and new hires take the 10-hour course. Supervisors, foremen, and safety leads take the 30-hour course. Use our Which OSHA Training tool for a personalized recommendation in under 60 seconds.

Is my state OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training required by law?

Several states require OSHA 10 Construction by law for workers on covered public works projects — including New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Nevada, Missouri, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. OSHA 10 General Industry is primarily employer-mandated rather than state-mandated. See our full State OSHA Requirements guide for all 50 states.

How is an OSHA 10 Practice Test helpful?

The free practice test shows you exactly what topics are covered in the OSHA 10 exam — fall protection, electrical safety, PPE, and more. It helps you gauge your existing knowledge before enrolling and gives you a sense of the exam format so there are no surprises. It takes under 3 minutes and requires no signup.

What if I lost my OSHA (DOL) card?

Your OSHA (DOL) card can be replaced. Contact the provider you took your original training through — they can request a replacement card from the DOL on your behalf. Your digital completion certificate also serves as backup proof while your replacement card is being processed. See our Lost OSHA Card guide for step-by-step instructions.

Is online OSHA training legitimate?

Yes — when the provider is DOL-authorized. The U.S. Department of Labor authorizes specific providers to deliver OSHA Outreach Training online. The OSHA (DOL) card issued from DOL-authorized online training is identical to one earned in a classroom — it does not say "online" on the card. Always verify that any provider you use is DOL-authorized before paying.

Does the OSHA (DOL) card expire?

The OSHA (DOL) card has no federal expiry date. However, some states, employers, GCs, and project owners require refresher training every 3–5 years. Always check with your employer or GC about their specific renewal policy before assuming your card is still accepted.
